Social Networking• Implemented the MSN Social Edition v1.1 User Experience. MSN Social Edition displays the user’s Facebook feed as a slide show with popular stories from various sources on Facebook beneath it. It also displays the “Top Comment” for each story.• Enhanced MSN Social and Community features to use either Windows Live display names or anonymous MSN nicknames. Previously, contributors of “User Generated Content” on MSN had to create an MSN identity in addition to their Windows Live identity. As a result of my work, this is no longer required and an obstacle to contributing to MSN is eliminated. Users who want to remain anonymous can do so. • Implemented the MSN/Windows Live Merged Profile Page. This page displays MSN “User Generated Content” on the user’s Windows Live Profile page and is essential for users without MSN identities. Also refined the stand-alone MSN Profile page.• Designed and Implemented Privacy Policies for MSN Users. - Implemented a scheme to make it nearly impossible to determine the Windows Live identity corresponding to an MSN identity if the user desires anonymity. - Designed and implemented the API used by the MSN Blog and Comments module to prompt for how users want to be identified based on the MSN region’s identity policy and the user’s previous identity choices.MSN Portal• Implemented the Hotmail and MSN Video modules for my.msn.com.

MSN TV2 Internet Appliance• Co-developed the broadband and narrowband Internet connectivity code.• Implemented improvements and bug fixes to the MSN TV2 Windows CE heap code.• Implemented numerous Windows CE USB 2.0 device driver fixes to make the MSN TV2 compatible with USB 2.0 devices.• Implemented the MSN TV2 Background Music feature on the MSNTV service. As a result of my work, subscribers can select from many genres of music to play while they surf the web.• Ported an MIDI Synthesizer from the WebTV operating system to Windows CE.• Implemented a DirectSound component for the synthesizer and did all the Internet Explorer and Media Player porting required to support foreground and background music playback.• Implemented the Print Preview feature so users can see exactly what will print.• Implemented Call-Waiting Caller ID. Approximately 80% of MSN TV2 subscribers access the Internet using their telephone line so it is essential for them to be able to screen incoming calls while viewing web pages or reading and composing email.• Implemented the “Guest Mode” feature so the MSN TV2 could be used in hotels.• Implemented the Narrowband Network Trace diagnostic feature which generates a binary trace that can be analyzed using the WireShark network analyzer.

Microsoft UltimateTV Digital Video Recorder and DirecTV Satellite Receiver• Co-developed Pay-per-View software. This code allows subscribers to purchase PPV content before a broadcast or during a broadcast, it reports purchases to DirecTV and it allows the subscriber to view a log of their PPV purchases.• Implemented the Caller ID feature so users can see who is calling them while they are viewing television programming and also view a log of prior telephone calls.• Co-developed the UltimateTV Combination Search and AutoRecord features.• Fixed many bugs throughout the system including the tuner, signal strength meter, Pay-per-View, “My Shows”, “Web Home”, “Settings” and Internet connectivity.• Implemented the final UTV release which adjusted for a change in the Advanced Program Guide feed. This was thought an impossible task since the team had disbanded, but due to my efforts approximately $5 million dollars of profit were saved. I was given a quarterly award in recognition of my accomplishment.
