As my first full-time marketing position after graduating from UConn, I was eager to begin my journey into the marketing world and put my education and past internship experience to the test. As a smaller company, North American Power offered an open & collaborative culture to learn, grow, and take on leadership opportunities. I began as a Marketing Associate, assisting the Direct Mail Manager with daily campaign execution. This ranged anywhere from data/information organization, to creative development assistance, to landing page construction, to proofreading/copy editing, etc. After sharpening my skills and diving into the inner-workings of the energy industry, I was later promoted to a Senior Marketing Associate. I was entrusted to train new entry-level employees with task analyses and processes that I either created from scratch or improved upon during my time as an Associate, and also took the lead on many direct marketing campaigns over time. I gained valuable skills related to project management, communications, data-driven marketing & AB testing, copy editing, and creative development & design. Even though I worked mostly on direct marketing campaigns, these omnichannel campaign development skills can translate to digital, email, SEO, and social media marketing as well.

As a summer intern at this startup, I was able to explore the more creative side of marketing through branding and advertising. Whether it was calling to pitch to prospective clients, assisting with brainstorming activities, writing/editing articles for the company website, or conducting field & qualitative research...I was a part of BrightMark Consulting's first step into the very competitive advertising landscape.The company CEO (Jane Cavalier) was one of the creators of the famous Snapple slogan "Made from the best stuff on earth." It was a fun and eye-opening summer and I was happy to be a part of it.

I assisted with customer service (specifically calling clients to help retrieve lost/stolen equipment) over winter break my senior year at UConn. Even for only a short time, this was a great way to gain confidence in customer service and speaking to clients, while touching the surface of the medical equipment industry.

As my first corporate internship, my role as a global marketing communications intern was an invaluable experience into the inner-workings of global campaign development, strategic planning, and creative project workflow. I was able work with a newly developed team in the North American office, whose goal was to unify product launches and campaigns across national and international markets. Some of my day-to-day tasks included assisting with creative-project workflow for trade shows, meeting with technology experts to combat issues related to company and product unification, organizing campaign deliverables into an organized database, and sitting in on global marketing team strategy meetings to ensure notes were taken and action items were followed up on. I usually prefer a more fast-paced work environment, but at a large company like this, it was a great learning experience into how long it takes and all the details that go into planning global marketing campaigns.

My interest in the creative world began with one of my first summer internships as a Sales Representative at Storytellers Photography in my hometown. I managed office operations such as telecommunications, session scheduling, and customer service. As a sales rep, I was entrusted to direct sales presentations while expediting purchases with product knowledge and client relationship skills. I also helped utilize social media to promote the studio and portrait sales. Because of my growing interest with Adobe Creative software, I used Photoshop to make initial edits to customer photos after shooting sessions were completed. This definitely improved my eye for detail and allowed me to stretch my creative legs.
