I managed multidisciplinary project teams for FERC relicensing of hydropower dams and CWA Section 316(b) compliance at cooling water intakes to reduce the impacts of fish impingement and entrainment. My technical leadership and regulatory understanding helped clients minimize study costs, preserve operational flexibility, and achieve balanced permit terms and conditions for environmental protection, mitigation, and enhancement.I led a workshop and prepared a guidance document evaluating a range of water risk assessment tools for global industry associations for environmental and social issues. I applied water tools to help companies assess and better manage water-related risks, communicate about their water use, and maintain their social license to operate.

I led NEPA coordination with cooperating agencies, developed key alternatives analyses for an environmental assessment (EA), and participated in public meetings for a proposed regional intermodal facility, helping to expedite its regulatory approval and eventual construction.I assisted creation of the GEMI Local Water Tool with a collaborative team of 40 global companies to help in evaluating water-related external impacts and associated business risks, developing management plans, and communicating with stakeholders.I led a team of engineers, scientists, and natural resource economists evaluating alternative technologies for reducing fish impingement and entrainment at the cooling water intake structures of a large manufacturing facility and power plant.I guided comprehensive environmental resource studies and developed the license application for successful FERC relicensing of several hydroelectric dams.

I led environmental resource studies and documentation for successful relicensing of the first hydroelectric project in the nation to use FERC's Integrated Licensing Process. I also prepared desktop fish entrainment evaluations for numerous hydroelectric facilities in the Southeast and Midwest, helping to reduce study costs while supporting successful agency negotiations on fisheries environmental enhancement measures.

As part of a contract team for FERC, I prepared EA's and multiple-project environmental impact statements (EIS's) for numerous hydroelectric facilities in the Midwest and Southeast. I assessed complex aquatic resource issues involving environmental flows, fish passage, and project operations, and negotiated with resource agencies on environmental enhancement measures.I managed numerous conservation biology projects for the Air Force under an Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan, which contributed to the protection and enhancement of ecosystem services on the base.I led fisheries and habitat assessments of urban streams, applying rapid bioassessment protocols and the Index of Biotic Integrity, to support watershed modeling and future protection strategies for multiple cities and counties in Georgia and Alabama.
