As a volunteer to the RTAA I assist with the organisation of the RTAA Field Days in Sydney. I help by seeking sponsors, exhibitors and presenters and encouraging them to get involved in the days.I am currently involved in helping with the event for 2015.

I am responsible for the management of Rhomberg Rail Australia's Resurfacing Business. I manage a team of over 30 great staff who operate and maintain nine major pieces of resurfacing plant.The team consistently delivers performance that exceeds the expectations of our customers and reliably produces great results.As part of my drive to deliver continuous improvement I have implemented performance KPIs which have helped focus the team's attention on safety, productivity, quality and cost.I have provided a clear vision of the future and driven a consistent course towards that objective. This has required me to encourage the team to adopt new ideas and implement the changes that are required to position the business for the changing demands of our clients. I have implemented several initiatives to further improve the service e offered by the team, these have been focused on standardising the way the work is performed, developing a ‘Rhomberg Way’ of resurfacing and working to establish a training regime that is aligned to this.In this role I oversaw the mobilisation of a major piece of plant to the Pilbara and the successful delivery of a twelve month contract to provide highly reliable tamping services in this challenging environment. My team consistently met and exceed the expectations of our client throughout the full twelve months of the contract.I have also had the pleasure of mentoring several members of the wider Rhomberg Rail Australia team. This is a particularly rewarding aspect of my role.

As a member of the senior management team at Rhomberg Rail Australia I have delivered tenders for works in New South Wales, Western Australia and Queensland.My work has also included the strategic assessment of the NSW and Queensland rail market and ensuring Rhomberg Rail Australia is positioned to capitalise on the major upcoming opportunities.Client relationships and industry innovation have been further areas of focus in this role.

My role at Transfield Services involved the development of client and partner relationships. I also worked on opportunity development as a bid manager, technical expert or reviewer.I was bid manager for Transfield Services on a tender worth in excess of $1 billion.I provided international industry expertise to the Transfield Services rail business, including technology and competitor analysis.

As a contractor I worked with the Jarvis Rail and Network Rail's Thameslink teams on the Luton Station Platform Extension Project. Working with the Jarvis group of companies and Thameslink teams I developed a deliverable methodology for the track renewals aspects of the project, whilst also managing OLE and signalling works associated with the track work.I integrated into the Thameslink Team to ensure the track works were compatible with the wider signalling, OLE, bridge renewals and platform alterations being delivered by Carillion for Thameslink.

In this contract role I undertook a Project Management role whilst also managing Engineering Compliance. The work involved the city centre track renewals project on the Manchester Metro. The role required me to manage discreet sections of track replacement including a section with track bed problems through a platform. I also ensured the track subcontractor's work was compliant with Manchester Metro standards. A key part of the role was to ensure the client maintained appropriate construction records for the entire project. I also implemented Lean tools on the project, including visual management tools and live record keeping. These ensured the project team were able to keep upto date with the progress of the project in a visual way whilst being able to collate as built records as the project progressed.

My final position with GrantRail and latterly VolkerRail was as Business Improvement Manager for Specialist Businesses. This role required me to apply my understanding of Lean Thinking to our Signalling, Welding and Plant businesses. My role was to understand the problems the teams were experiencing and than help and coach them to develop solutions to the problems.

Prior to the Improvement role I was a member of GrantRail's multinational team consulting on Network Rail's Modular Switches and Crossings Project. I was collaborating in a pan-European team looking at how to reduce the durations needed to relay S&C. My role required me to provide technical guidance to ensure compliance with Network Rail standards, provide a sense check on the suitability of the process and equipment being proposed. A further responsibility saw me managing the production of the necessary project management documentation for a GRIP Stage 4 exit.

Project Manager responsible for the delivery of Switches and Crossings Renewals on Network Rail's East Midlands Integrated Management Team based in Derby.I was responsible for the integration of the P-Way programme into the East Midlands Signalling Renewals Project. I then lead the team through the implementation of the renewals work.
