North Country Supervisory Union is responsible for the education of students in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont towns of Brighton, Charleston, Coventry, Derby, Ferdinand, Holland, Jay, Lowell, Morgan, Newport City, Newport Town, Troy and Westfield. There are ten elementary schools in the Supervisory Union, as well as preschool programs and the Encore After-School and Summer Program. The North Country Union Junior High School in Derby is home to approximately 275 seventh through eighth grade students from seven of those towns, while North Country Union High School and the North Country Career Center host more than 800 ninth through twelfth grade students from all twelve member districts. Formerly Orleans Essex North Supervisory Union (OENSU) which goes back to the 1960’s, the name was changed to North Country Supervisory Union (NCSU) July 1, 2008 and approved by the Vermont Agency of Education to enable us to better identify with our North Country Union High and Junior High Schools. The change also lessened confusion among the other supervisory unions. NCSU is SU31, geographically the largest Supervisory Union in Vermont with 520 Square miles, of which the inclusive schools are encompassed by two counties, Orleans and Essex.

Road Pitch was founded in 2014 by Cairn Cross, co-founder and managing director of FreshTracks Capital. The event is a multi-day motorcycle trip around Vermont where a pack of motorcycle riders with investing, entrepreneurial/business and business advisory experience ride together and stop in small towns where “Local Hosts” have organized a pitch session for entrepreneurs to pitch their business ideas to the group. Basketball and Soccer coach.The Kennedy Institute provides special education to school-aged children with developmental and other disabilities. Our early childhood educational program currently services students from birth to age 3. We also have a special education program for students ages 6 through 22. Students work toward receiving a high school diploma. We serve students diagnosed with intellectual disabilities, significant learning disabilities, emotional disorders, autism and other related disabilities using the Success for All reading program to help students develop strong literacy skills, Key Math to enhance math skills, and programs to enhance students’ independent living skills. All IEP goals are linked to personal outcomes identified for each child by the child, his/her family, or their interdisciplinary team. Our teachers and para-educators also receive support from clinical and related services staff. Services include counseling, behavioral support, speech/language services, nursing services, psychological services, and physical and occupational therapies. As much as possible, these related services support is integrated into each child’s educational program.
