I am a software engineer with extensive experience in web development, database administration, server administration, networking, and systems administration. I waas a lead developer on a multi-million dollar government project, and helped guide future decision making direction regarding the project. I enjoy all aspects of technology, and am constantly honing my skills, reading the newest technology blog posts, and am always trying new technologies and methodologies in an attempt to "stay ahead of the curve".After earning my Bachelor's Degree, I went to work for Northrop Grumman, and worked as a software developer over three different projects over the course of my time there. I was an integral part in helping to design and develop various critical parts of the project, and my ability to relate information between the various departments of the development process was critical in ensuring a successful overall development process, and helped minimize setbacks and unnecessary work due to miscommunication between departments. During this time I also continued my schooling, and earned my Master's Degree, with a concentration of Software Engineering. After taking a non-development job elsewhere after Northrop Grumman, I expanded my role as an overall Systems Administrator, by ensuring day to day operations of networking, email, data storage, and hardware. However, during this time I also worked to maintain my development skills by developing various personal websites and projects on a personal, hobby basis. I then began work with Taysia Blue, and quickly filled a role there in working to develop two different mobile applications to help with their day to day operations. My development skills consist primarily on web development technologies (PHP / MySQL / Apache frontend, and Java backend), utilizing a set of various frameworks to accomplish what needed to be done (Spring, Struts, Hibernate, ExtJS, and Sencha Touch). I take great pride in my development work!

Senior Software EngineerHelpsystems Oct 2018 - PresentEden Prairie, Minnesota, UsAs a senior software engineer with HelpSystems, I worked with a team that helped to design and develop a secure file transfer solution, that both managed storage and encryption of file management, as well as secure transfer of files across a large variety of platforms and environments. In addition, this solution also allowed for drag-and-drop programmatic solutions for the end customer to build out and design their own file-management workflow solution, using a variety of build-in communication tools, as well as custom connector tools for third party vendor solutions.I took the company's sprawling repository of projects that were built on SVN and migrated them all to GIT. In doing so, I helped to train the organization on how to use GIT, and also created a code review process for the team, which utilized Gitlab in combination with Jira project management to help enhance task throughput and provide better code review results.I spearheaded the initiative, and was the lead of a team tasked to move our entire application infrastructure "to the cloud". Working closely with a large number of stakeholders in various departments throughout the company, I helped drive forward a project to provide a matching cloud offering to our customers; eliminating the requirement of their own hardware and an IT admin to build out their infrastructure. Using a one-click process, we built out a solution to automate procurement and configuration of an entire cloud-based solution in AWS utilizing many AWS solutions (CloudFormation, CloudFront, ACM, S3, RDS, EC2 / EBS, EFS, Route 53, SSM, EC2 Instance Connect, CloudTrail, IAM, KMS, VPC, EIP, Amazon's SDK and their newer just released CDK). With security at the forefront of design, we were able to accomplish this in a manner that helped to ensure successful data protection for the end customer. -
Volunteer / Board MemberTaysia Blue Siberian Husky Rescue In Nebraska, Inc. Oct 2012 - PresentOmaha, Ne, UsI developed and help maintain a mobile, tablet-friendly administrative application that is used to help maintain data about the rescue and about all of the various animals processed throughout the organization. This is to be used when out in the field, and to help aid in the data entry / access process while away from a computer.I also developed and help maintain a mobile, phone application that is used to help provide quick access to all of the currently available dogs in the rescue. This provides a quick way for a potential foster / adopter to see the dogs that we have available, easy to use interface that they can quickly reference, and that we can quickly bring up and reference when out and about at various events or consultations. -
Api EngineerHayneedle.Com Jun 2016 - Oct 2018Omaha, Ne, UsAs a an API engineer for Hayneedle, I helped to build out a robust REST API to be consumed by our various frontend interfaces to allow for a rapid, high frequency, high bandwidth throughput. With a large number of API endpoints, I helped to continue to grow our API structure, as well as to support and improve our existing structure.I also worked to help design and develop tools that allowed us to communicate with third party vendors for marketplace-related requirements, as well as design and develop a process to communicate with a third party email vendor for marketing purposes.I helped to modernize our code base, by migrating the entire baseline from SVN to Git, and implementing a code review process using Bitbucket, as well as associations with Jira and Jenkins for better tracking and build automation. Along with this, I helped to implement a Gitflow build and version tracking process, to help enhance the SDLC and allow for better tracking and release management using Git and defined task branches.Lastly, I helped build out and prototype a Spring-centric microservices architecture, using a combination of a variety of Spring tools along with Netflix Eureka to create a scaleable, configurable, centrally-managed solution that allowed us to modernize our monolithic project into a more component-driven structure. -
Software DeveloperTd Ameritrade Jun 2013 - May 2016Omaha, Ne, UsAs a software developer, I was tasked with working on backend accounts opening / management process. Spanning a number of core projects, I worked with both backend API / SOAP services between modules, as well as building out and maintaining internal UI applications for internal users.I also helped to modernize the SDLC, by helping to spearhead the migration from ClearCase to SVN, as well as implementing a functional code review process using Fisheye / Crucible integration with Jira. I also helped to train the various teams on the use of SVN, and was part of the core group of leaders helping to grow team understanding of Test Driven Development (TDD) through weekly meetings and training sessions.I worked closely with our disaster recovery team to help design and configure a scaleable, redundant environment that would allow for rapid recovery in cases of disaster, and helped to build out and test the environment through a variety of various failure points. -

Software EngineerNorthrop Grumman Information Systems May 2008 - Oct 2011Falls Church, Va, UsAs a developer, I worked on a few different contracts and projects; each of which brought its own unique requirements and design constraints. One of the projects was an internal Research and Development project, and the others were government contracts.During the R&D project, I helped to convert an existing application into a completely open source application, running entirely on MySQL, JBOSS, and OpenLDAP, and developed using the Eclipse IDE. This was a drastic change from being heavily Oracle-centric, using Oracle 10g, Weblogic, and Oracle LDAP.On one of the key government projects, I became lead developer, and helped to guide the decision making process which influenced the direction and scope of the future of the project. I worked to develop critical components of the project, and helped ensure that our project's coding standards were upheld, and that we strove to follow the proper MVC and OOP design paradigms. Our project achieved a CMMI Level 5 certification, due to our strict process and development requirements.I was a key team member in helping to relate information between the various different subgroups on our project, relying on my experience and knowledge in not only software development, but also database administration, server administration, and network administration, to quickly and effectively communicate requirements, concerns, and design decisions between the groups. Being able to bridge the "knowledge gap" between subgroups helped to cut down on inefficiencies due to miscommunication and incorrect information, and helped to make the overall process from requirements to implementation much more streamlined and efficient.I was an integral part of every step of the software development process. I worked directly with the customer to gather requirements and to help design the application based on their specifications, and followed through by developing, and demoing the end product to them to ensure it met their exact expectations. -
Co-OwnerJbsm Technologies Apr 2006 - Dec 2007Co-founded JBSM Technologies as a way to provide IT services and consulting to the private, personal sector. We saw a lack of personal IT support provided to those who need it for personal matters, and who didn't want to have to deal with technical support on the phone for various companies, or who didn't want to be overcharged for support by large, big-box stores and services. So we developed JBSM Technologies as a way to provide services for that missing environment, and relied on word-of-mouth to help grow our business. We also taught a couple of very successful computer classes at the local community college for senior citizens, providing many of them with their very first experience with a computer. We used these classes as an opportunity to "break the barrier" between senior citizens and their technology aversion, by providing a friendly, supportive environment with which they could learn and and ask questions about computers.
