I have been representing clients in the development, finance, acquisition and divestiture of domestic and international energy projects for over 23 years, with a particular emphasis on upstream projects in emerging markets.My recent experience includes working with the government of Mexico regarding the implementation of energy reforms in the upstream sector; representing private equity backed and public companies with the acquisition of several billion dollars worth of U.S. oil and gas assets; and working with a major energy company on the upgrading and financing of a crude oil refinery.Overall, I counsel clients on obtaining rights to develop oil and gas projects around the world, as well as gas and liquid pipelines, wind, solar and natural gas power projects. I regularly negotiate and structure a variety of investment vehicles – including joint ventures, joint operating agreements, participation agreements, farm-in/farm-out agreements, shareholder agreements, alliance agreements, teaming agreements and joint bidding agreements – relating to the development of major energy and infrastructure projects.I am the immediate past president of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, and currently serve as the chair of the National Oil Company committee and head of the Nominations Committee. I am on the executive committee of the Institute for Energy Law in the Center for American and International Law, serving as the chair of the E-Communications Committee.
