Huntsman Polyurethanes is one of the leading companies in the highly specialized polyurethanes ecosystem. As a member of the EMEA, India Subcontinent and Russia leadership team I was responsible for the commercial strategy, innovation portfolio and downstream M&A pipeline across all end markets and technology platforms. In addition I led the issue management team, i.e. the prequel to a genuine sustainable chemistry focus. For Huntsman PU's Strategy 2020 I took the lead in its downstream M&A focus track.

Exnovate or the European Center for Open & Collaborative Innovation is a network based organization through which academic knowledge and practical experience on collaborative forms of innovation are shared. Its goal is to create, distribute and valorize knowledge on open forms of innovation through a clearing house function and the input of government experts, captains of industry and a top level network of academics including prof. H. Chesbrough, prof. W. Vanhaverbeke and many more.

After an initiation period as (injection molding) application engineer, traveling Europe to help out customers who got stuck with either their machines, their polymer knowledge or their processes, Steven quickly got to lead a team of incredibly bright engineers. Together, this team developed knowledge based engineering tools, dramatically improved engineering quality and went up a steep learning curve because of extensive testing in the test lab.

At Caterpillar CLS Steven got to understand how multinational corporations work and how important structure can be. Cat taught Steven professionalism and introduced him to lean Six Sigma in real life (after education did in theory). The job was to help plan the start-up of new contract logistics facilities, organize stock transitions and introduce inbound logistics solutions for Caterpillar Inc and Daimler-Chrysler.
