In 2015, my neighbour and friend, gastroenterologist Dr Luc Colemont, decided to leave his job at the hospital and pursue a career change. He moved from the "operating room" to the "auditorium" and became the CEO of his foundation. With a small team, he organises campaigns yearly to fight colon cancer. Social media plays a significant role in his daily fight against this disease. Since his career switch, Dr. Colemont has given over 700 (!) keynotes worldwide to stop colorectal cancer. He believes that the best campaign is the one that is done rather than the one that has been discussed for many years.One of his recent international campaigns is "Dirk: Het Leven Is Een Strijd Waard" (2019, Standaard Uitgeverij-Ballon Media), which is available in English (John), French (Jean), Italian (Luca), Portuguese (Joao), Turkish (Erol), German (Dirk), Spanish (José), Catalan, Arabic (Ziad), and Chinese (in progress).Since 2015, I have been advising Dr. Colemont on strategic, media, and marketing matters to help achieve his dream of a world without colon cancer. Since September 2021, I have also become a member of the Board of Directors and Secretary at his foundation.
