Researched the signal transduction mechanisms regulating stem cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. · Provided signal transduction support to define the role of PI3 kinase, Notch, and JAK/STAT pathways in neural stem cell survival, offering a novel therapeutic approach for neurodegenerative conditions. · Determined a role for p53 in establishing the proper timing of neural stem cell cycle exit and in an in vitro model of developmental neuronal cell death.· Applied high-throughput cell based assay imaging technology (Evotec OperaTM) to facilitate rapid assessment of the effects of different pharmacological treatments on monolayer neural stem cell cultures.· Worked with Nikon Corporation to optimize the BioStationTM CT for use in automated live cell imaging of monolayer neural stem cells to expand proliferation studies within the lab.· Immunohistochemical and behavioral assessment of in vivo application of factors to mobilize endogenous neural stem cells to facilitate recovery in animal models of disease.
