Steve Sizemore, Ph.D., AICP, is a city planner and researcher with over a decade of experience working as a professional in Louisville, KY, and nationwide as a planning consultant. H currently works as a private consultant where he provides professional services crafting new land development codes for jurisdictions around the country. In this position, he works hand and hand with governmental leadership across the country to implement policy at the local level addressing some of our nation’s biggest challenges, including affordable housing, climate change, transportation needs, and local economic development. As Ph.D. student at the University of Louisville in the Urban and Public Affairs program with a specialization in planning, his dissertation analyzes local government policy in response to the affirmatively furthering fair housing provision of the 1968 Fair Housing Act. In his research, he applied a qualitative methodology to understand the role that language plays in the policy process, especially in how federal policy is interpreted at the local level and how this knowledge shapes fair housing policy and practices. During his professional practice in local government, he served in various capacities on implementing active transportation projects, managing neighborhood plans and multi-modal transportation plans, and writing land use policies. Steve also serves as adjunct faculty in the University of Louisville's Masters of Urban Planning program where he has taught four different courses in the program. In his free time, Steve enjoys playing music with his band, Appalatin, playing golf with his daughter, and volunteering in the community.
