I led the development and implementation of a new Talent programme for British Fencing. This focussed on athlete and coach experience improving athlete experience, retention and performance.

Tasked with broadening the appeal of fencing, I led the development of insight driven and innovative fencing products targeted at engaging an identified, previously unengaged audience of young people. These consisted of a specific higher education product (Sabre:Lite) aimed at creatives and gamers, as well as ‘lightsaber fencing’ targeting a wider.

I undertook strategic research work for a joint BUCS/Sony project, examining the feasibility of live streaming BUCS sports and the addition of eSports to the BUCS portfolio. This has led to the creation of a new joint venture with a commercial partner to take advantage of the rapidly growing market. Other clients included local authorities for which I.

Following my prior work for them as a consultant, BUCS employed me to lead a review of BUCS’ relationship with forty other significant sports organisations and the allocation of resources between sports. I produced a report with detailed recommendations based on the feedback from these organisations and conducted further quantitative research to confirm.

I acted as the lead voice and main point of contact for college sport in the south, informing and cascading national policy, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with a range of organisations within the sport and education sectors. I provided advice and guidance to approximately 100 colleges, as well as tailoring this to support individual.

I coordinated with all academic departments to draw up and implement the first whole college sport and physical activity strategy to ensure that sport was central to the student experience. This gave me a strong framework to fundraise over £850,000 to improve facilities at the college and to create an externally funded sports activator role.

I held responsibility for the development of 54 clubs and 96 societies, supervising student staff and leading on the contribution to the Brunel University Sports strategy.

I performed research and was published as lead author. I supervised a team of undergraduates in an international science competition and submitted funding bids to secure over £30,000 before choosing to pursue opportunities in sport.

I managed customer relationships at the local branch and at a national contact centre as well as training new staff and deputising for management. I interned in the treasury department, trading derivatives to mitigate interest rate risk.
