About Steven Rhoads Ii, Pe

Steven E. Rhoads II, PE is a Transmission Asset Engineering Manager at National Grid for the Upstate NY region. Mr. Rhoads proudly served in the United States military as a Signals Support Systems Specialist, attaining the rank of Sergeant during his service in the Army Reserves from 1993 to 1999. Mr. Rhoads completed a 3/2 Cooperative Engineering Program, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Clarion University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1999. He furthered his academic pursuits by obtaining a Master of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from the University at Buffalo in 2008. In 2013, he acquired his NY State Professional Engineering license.With a diverse professional background, Mr. Rhoads gained valuable experience through his 5 ½ years of manufacturing maintenance roles at US Steel and American Brass. He has dedicated over 19 years of his career to substation operations & maintenance, substation maintenance engineering, and transmission asset management at National Grid.Mr. Rhoads has actively contributed to professional organizations and committees, serving as the Chairman of the Doble SFRA User Group Committee from 2012 to 2017, and later as the Chairman of the Doble Circuit Breaker Committee from the fall of 2017 to the fall of 2018. Additionally, he has held the position of Chair for the IEEE Buffalo Power & Energy Society (PES) since January 2014 and served as a Vice Chair on the Board for the IEEE Buffalo Section in 2018. In recognition of his expertise and contributions, Mr. Rhoads achieved the distinction of being upgraded to a senior member in the IEEE in December 2016.
