Created an NVOD playout and a Pay Per View system. • Specified MPEG2 encoders and decoders, video server platforms, video switchers and DTMF tone equipment. • Developed vision of using SCSI decoders to put over 250 video output channels on a single Alpha Server. • Wrote Digital UNIX drivers for EISA based MPEG2 decoders and most of the associated video-play software. • My early participation and fast ramp-up of the hardware platform was a major factor to winning multiple bids for over 20 million dollars in systems.

Designed, built and modified optical disk testers for 14 inch very high performance disks. These disks are still the highest performance media made and the test equipment required work in high-speed, low-noise analog and RF design, digital design, computer hardware and software design and optical design.Developed and implemented testing methods and equipment for a 130mm Magneto-Optical disk production facility. I implemented a network based data collection system for real time process and quality monitoring control. I worked closely with our partner Philips in the Netherlands on tester development for the production Read/Write/Erase test equipment. I developed a Sun Workstation/Customer Drive based defect test system that saved testing money, increased yield and had a very high reliability.Developed the architecture and software for a 86mm OROM mastering system. This involved software on a PC platform that used the full data bandwidth of the ISA bus to operate. I also designed the ISA interface section and worked on design changes for the second-generation system.I worked with the PDO marketing group as a technical representative. I assisted customers with various problems and technical questions concerning our media and its use on various drives. I performed interchangeability studies working closely with drive manufacturers to resolve customer issues. I also created demonstration software and represented PDO in our booth at various trade shows.I worked with Verbatim/Mitsubishi Kasei, who purchased the 130mm MO manufacturing line from PDO, to modify the line to produce Write-Once media. This involved converting their test processes and methods from Japan to work at the MO facility.

Designed and applied for a patent on a new support I/O processor card. I also wrote a disassembler for the processor.Programmed an IBM PC to control a board test system for bring-up support of the 9370. This included working on a team with the hardware designers and other support programmers. Also wrote a program to generate display/alter screens for the same processor.
