After completion of Disney's acquisition of Playdom, I continued in my responsibilities for game data services (now renamed to DisneyDB). Usage increased from 3 to 30 internal customers ranging from games with millions of daily active users to research prototypes (e.g. Disney Magic Bands) to portions of disney.com and baby.com. These APIs consistently process over 1.3 billion transactions/day.

Responsible for all technical aspects of Playdom’s new Gaming-as-a-Service data platform. The GAAS platform provides a centralized cloud-based storage API allowing game teams to leverage a single storage API across multiple games and studios. Gaming-as-a-Service allows studios to focus on hiring creatives to provide even better player experiences. Recruited team and lead specification, design, implementation, deployment, 24/7 live ops, support, and maintenance. This software platform was one of the key technology drivers of Disney’s $763 million acquisition of Playdom.Redesigned and implemented Playdom’s software for processing in-game payments and integrated it with third-party payment processing providers. Virtually all revenue for Playdom was successfully processed through this code.

Responsible for all design and development of the ProSponse mass notification tool suite (a highly scalable, fault-tolerant, VoIP based web application that enables critical communications and notifications between first responders and citizens in times of crisis). Software architecture, design, and implementation. Recruit and manage engineering team. Participate in writing and filing of patent applications for core technologies. Meet with customers & partners to determine system requirements and to assess the gaps between current generation tools and next-generation solutions.

Responsibility for all development aspects of Ensim Unify, an infrastructure management product for access control, identity management, change & audit reporting, and automated provisioning for enterprises and service providers. Managed development process for 30 engineers and QA personnel in US and India. Established agile processes resulting in consistent and timely prioritization of Engineering tasks. Conceived and implemented a quality improvement effort that resulted in a 90% reduction in customer reported defects, dramatic improvement in robustness and significant increase in capability to ship new features. Managed process for cross-functional team of 9 managers with cradle to grave responsibility for design, implementation, and testing of multiple product lines.

Lead the development of the front-end of web-based bill payment system. Responsible for development of mid-tier business logic. Conceived and designed the module-based administrative desktop client responsible for maintaining core client data. Managed team responsible for the development of this platform (core APIs, remote interfaces and UI) that allows all custom myCFO applications to utilize common infrastructure. This platform enables myCFO to realize a truly unique business process and enjoy a significant competitive advantage over larger, established firms attempting to provide similar services.

Responsible for leading a team of engineers integrating Verano's encrypted security solutions for mission-critical industrial operations with IIS and the Microsoft Windows desktop. Documents are visible to and shared with authenticated users via folders in the Windows interface as though they are local while actually remaining safely encrypted on the Verano web server.

Architected, designed and developed the software for Knight-Ridder's Newspaper of the Future, a high resolution, color, flat panel, wireless document reader running software designed for the domain specific needs of the newspaper industry (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCeOM0XwXsY). Also re-architected NewsHound, a web-based system that delivered filtered news content from across Knight-Ridder's many newspapers to subscribers via email.
