The West Ohio Conference is the Conference Center office for The United Methodist Church in 58 counties of Ohio, in ministry with nearly 200,000 members, 1,200 local United Methodist congregations, 8 satellite offices, 3 camping and retreat centers, and multiple community centers and mission sites in Ohio and globally.Steven began at the West Ohio Conference as a consultant. He was retained to stabilize a distressed network infrastructure, advance cloud technology, and expand security by implementing a cloud-first strategy: Unified video meetings and voice calling from anywhere using Zoom UCaaS Expanded and protected document access using Office 365 and Files On-Demand. Digitized traditional paper filing cabinets for secure, audited access using eBridge. Hyper-converged the network and remote access with a modern security platform using Cato SASE. Mitigated fraudulent access with multi-factor (2FA) using Cisco Duo. Consolidated physical servers with VMware vSphere virtualized servers. Simplified the network using Meraki cloud-managed switches and wireless. Protected data against ransomware and accidental data deletions using a 3-2-1 strategy. This is three copies of data with two copies on different media, one offsite in immutable (air-gapped) storage. Defended against cybersecurity threats and business email compromise (BEC scams) and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) using Trend Micro Business. This includes using XDR to analyze the root cause of a threat.  Extended remote support and patch management using NinjaOne RMM. Trained staff against cybersecurity threats with KnowBe4 phishing simulations.

The South Bend Clinic is a leading multi-specialty partnership with more than 100 top physicians practicing in over 40 fields of medicine. The South Bend Clinic employs 610 and offers the most comprehensive health care available in northern Indiana.Efficiently managed the entire IT function and inaugurated restoration of a distressed Information Services Department and infrastructure. Developed IT strategies, documented roles, defined best practices, produced procedures, enhanced support levels for enhanced amity within the IT/IS department and the rest of the company.Before moving onward, I earned the South Bend Clinic’s first ever Employee of the Month award for successfully recovering the Data Center from a construction mishap (water destruction). Holy Cross Care Services (a member of the Holy Cross Health System) was a national multi-facility, post-acute company that offered a full continuum of services and programs ranging from skilled, rehabilitation, and sub-acute care to housing and assisted living residential services.Holy Cross Health System was dissolved in 2000 when Holy Cross Health merged with Mercy Health System to become Trinity Health (http://www.trinity-health.org).Successfully managed the entire IT organizational structure and provided thought leadership in driving organization wide technology initiatives, overall project management, project planning, budgeting, resources deployment & utilization, monitoring & reporting, and risk identification & mitigation for all business operating units within the company.
