I was responsible for bid management, project leadership and business case development. On Adelaide’s CTLE I participated actively in community engagement and facilitated stakeholder management of DPTI’s functional areas.Key achievements:- Led and managed a team of 8 personnel from Downer and York Civil through bid management to winning Adelaide’s CTLE Expression of Interest (EOI) phase.- Managed a team of 10 across the project services team and the rail systems design and engineering team as Assistant Project Director during CTLE’s Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase.- Successfully developed business cases and obtained funding from the Downer’s executive team, for rail plant investment in excess of $4m (including financial modelling).

I was on the Mernda Rail Extension Project (MREP) development phase to interface with the LXRP project team on rail operator matters and to support MTM’s commercial interest in the project. I engaged with project stakeholders that included MTM, LXRP, VicTrack and AusNet, to align project scope and negotiate interfaces.Key achievements:- Led the MTM project team of 13 personnel during the MREP Request for Tender (RFT) development phase and the subsequent tender evaluation phase toward contract award.- Reduced the direct cost of the MREP by approximately $5m through the utilisation of existing rail assets within the brownfield interface environment at Epping.

My focus was on delivering value outcomes across multiple areas of MTM’s business that included projects, infrastructure, rolling stock and passenger experience. I co-founded the Innovation and Improvement Council chaired by senior MTM executives and was nominated the Australian champion for the Mass Transit Rail (MTR) Global Innovation Platform.Key achievements:- Achieved between 10% to 45% cost reductions across numerous high-value asset classes (eg. grade separations, traction substations, etc) through Value Management, combining detailed analysis with design thinking for whole-of-life improvements.- Developed the financial modelling for X’Trapolis bogie monitoring technology, successfully securing an approximate $7m investment - Led the implementation of Zöllner Automatic Track Warning System (ATWS), a rail safeworking technology solution, including negotiating and securing the national agency distribution deal.

I led the Waratah Train (Sydney) interior systems team consisting of 2 engineers and 19 designers, the single largest design team on the project. I interfaced with other design teams impacting interior systems, developed material specifications and managed product selection (including testing/evaluation to Australian and international standards) and supplier negotiations.Key achievements- Successfully achieved the final design of interior systems, making up 35% of the total train design, consistently delivering in advance of design release targets.- Achieved a 7% reduction in train weight through smarter engineering design and use of new materials to address design challenges.- Introduced design-for-manufacture (as adopted by the automotive industry) that brought the engineering design and manufacturing elements together to increase Australian and Chinese supplier quality and cost effectiveness.
