In this role I have pivoted a bit away from my technical past and toward the classic Product Manager role. My primary responsibilities in this effort has been to establish and manage a team working in a true eXtreme Programming manner (complete with TDD, Pair programming, Continuous integration & deployment and most importantly, user feedback drive design and prioritization). This greenfield development effort has been driven by interviews, deep product analysis and feedback from the field.

Provide technical expertise to our clients and sales team in the Telecom Business unit. This includes overseeing delivery of projects, assisting clients in identifying project requirements, clarifying architectural designs, refining role descriptions for staff augmentation and providing technical expertise to the recruiting team. I am generally responsible for supporting both pre and post sales activity within the Telecom business unit at Turnberry Solutions.

Focusing on Data patterns and integration, I was responsible for establishing and maintaining best practices for the use of IBM DataStage and other ETL tools within the group connecting multiple databases including Oracle, UDB, Sql Server and mainframe systems. In addition, I oversaw the day-to-day integration development activities including extensive ETL processe

Organized and established the Master Data Management (MDM) group, creating a firm-wide architectural vision and strategy for MDM, implementing the necessary data integration (using .Net SOA patterns as well as Informatica ETL)across the front, middle and back offices through a multi-year program. This complex, distributed technical architecture employed a federated MDM approach to leverage pockets of data expertise within the firm. The resulting solution incorporated classic MDM patterns such as dataset arbitration, quality control, data governance and enterprise-scale data replication and distribution. In addition to establishing MDM I also researched, proposed and piloted the use of MongoDB, CouchBase and Neo4j as a backing store for a series of real-time REST based SOA interfaces providing MDM data to the applications listening on the outbound service bus.

In 2008, I became the Agile Champion for SIG. Developed curriculum, conducted internal classes and provided internal team consulting and advice. Promoted and encouraged teams to adopt various Agile methodology including SCRUM.

This team was added to the scope of my management responsibilities briefly in 2007. During my tenure as lead of this team, I led the team as it participated in a massive department-wide integration project to on-board a new Order Management System (OMS), BRASS. In addition, we assisted the Enterprise Architect with helping integrate the teams legacy systems with a new business domain protocol to reduce n:n integrations to a single pipeline using SOA.

Designed and implemented the first consolidated reference data infrastructure for SIG. The platform collects, houses and distributes Party (counter parties, clearing agents, vendors) and Account definitions to the firm. This SOA based architecture was implemented using the Microsoft development stack, including .Net WCF Services.

Provided architectural and technical direction to the .Net team including the implementation of code quality and efficiency improvements, such as automated continuous integration and comprehensive unit testing. This integration project bridged the newly acquired businesses Microsoft based .Net technology stack with the existing companies proprietary Java/J2EE order processing application back end.

• Participated in the creation of a legal invoice auditing system, built with C#, Sql Server, and ASP.Net. This application utilized hand crafted web service-like functionality that predated web services and WCF frameworks.• Mentored and guided junior developers in coding techniques, project management skills and .Net technologies.

While working for this web startup, I developed software solutions utilizing the tools from within the Microsoft technology stack (ASP, COM+ and Sql Server). During the later portion of my career at Epotec, we also began to work with Linux based solutions using ModPerl, Apache and xml based storage.

Technical Lead on client/server application project (developed with Visual Basic and Oracle) to minimize manual processes and enhance GUI design on an application to manage premiums on credit card purchases.

• Drove the development of and supported a major business-critical imaging application.• Served as the Oracle Development DBA, coordinating and implementing deployments, creating and tuning stored procedures and scripts.• Refactored internal system communication eliminating 1/3 of the existing code and redeveloped the manual indexing processes with a Visual Basic application utilizing ActiveX components and barcode reading technologies. Also saved $50K in printing costs, and increased performance 5K% by simplifying a printing algorithm.
