Ohio Board Of Tax Appeals
* Preside as an administrative judge over quasi judicial proceedings in appeals involving complex matters under Ohio Tax Law, including real property valuations and exemptions, personal property, dealers in intangibles tax, corporate franchise tax, income tax, and library and local government funds; oversee appeals designated by the Board as complex litigation.* Manage docket of over 400 annual appeals, which includes pre-hearing procedures, conferences, conducting mediation, issuance of orders on discovery, other preliminary and interim motions.* Conduct administrative hearings, qualify lay and expert witnesses, and make evidentiary rulings.* Supervise the Board's Administrative Code filings and updates; includes authoring new and amended rules, electronically filing rules, and appearing before the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review as necessary.* Trained new attorney examiner in case management, decision making, and writing techniques.* Previously administered the Board's legal intern program, including hiring and training of five interns,assignment of projects to interns, review of intern work, management of projects assigned to legalinterns, such as tracking appeals taken from BTA decisions and library maintenance.* Research pending legislation and perform other services upon the Board’s request.
