After 20+ years in the insurance industry, I understand most agency owners view the future in 2 paths:* Path 1 - remaining fiercely independent with a solid business plan. However, this path is a hard-fought road and often feels impossible to achieve goals without assistance. Many chose premium aggregation, carrier markets offered by clustering with other agencies, or various other resource networks, but it was not usually enough return on investment to make much difference.* Path 2 - being gobbled up by a large consolidator where the agency would lose its identity, often its employees and no longer hang on to the things which made the business successful to start. The agency would become a shell of what it originally set out to be and was no longer autonomous leading to disappointing results.As Director of Business Development at Superior Insurance Partners I am able to offer something else. I spent most of my career as a commercial P&C broker for large accounts that were each more than $25,000 in revenue, attaining my CIC and CRM along the way. After which, I managed the development of new membership for the largest, independent aggregation network in the country. During my time at ISU Insurance Agency Network, I spoke to thousands of agency owners about how to improve their growth, contingencies, carrier markets, and revenue generating strategies for the future of their business. East Coventry Township Historical Commission & Volunteer Historical Tour GuideFricks Locks Village - National Historical Register Jul 2019 - PresentI am a member of the East Coventry Township, PA Historical Commission, approved by the East Coventry Township Board of Supervisors Through December 31st, 2022. History of Fricks Locks VillageBefore European settlement, the lands of Fricks Locks Village were rolling hills covered primarily with mature woodlands. The lands were floodplain areas along the Schuylkill River. The Schuylkill River was reported having an abundant supply of herring, sturgeon & shad. Lenni Lenape Indians of the Delaware tribe inhabited the region & trapped beaver for their pelts as a valuable trading product. The advent of change in land use is from King Charles II of England awarding the lands of the future Commonwealth of PA to William Penn in 1682.In 1832, the depth and width of the canals were increased to accommodate larger boats. (The original canal dimensions had not been followed per specifications.) The new supply of coal enabled more industrial operations along the river. . The locks in Fricks Locks were an important stopping place in the areas. The village hosted a “convenience” store that stayed open 24 hours a day to supply the needs of the boatmen. Passengers on packet boats stopped in Fricks Locks to go ashore for dinner or stay overnight for a stagecoach connection. The Village became an important trade center. In 1849, a covered toll bridge, the Lawrenceville Bridge, was the area’s first dry crossing of the river. This improved connection (competing with the ferry service) to Montgomery County increased the trading opportunities and growth associated with the canal and the Village.An agreement between Exelon Generation Company, LLC, (Limerick Power Plant) and the Township, allows the Village opened for escorted public access. Exelon completed the stabilization of the buildings & Township Historical Commission is helping re-discover the local heritage that began nearly 200 years ago with educational,guided tours.
