Day to day management of telecommunications projects generated from projects from the Property and Facilities Branch with relation to refurbishment of existing as well as new Police properties. This included liaison with the Human Resources Department, area command and officer in charge of the particular facility to ascertain operational requirements and therefore scope for the project. Generation of reports and submissions to support the proposed solution. Once approval was granted to proceed, manage all facets of the telecommunications infrastructure installation in close consultation with Properties and Facilities Project Officer to bring the total project to close in a timely manner and within budget.Assessing all risks and include change management where required. This involved preparing specifications for an invitation to offer or request for quotation depending upon the estimate, evaluation of responses and finally making recommendations. Assisting and supporting the Senior Project Officer when requested. Research, review and analyse complex, diverse telecommunications issues to provide advice and problem solving assistance to operational police and other users. Regularly liaise with telecommunications suppliers. General assistance, guidance and support for my team mates in the TCU, where my knowledge/experience was beneficial, as well as covering when they are unavailable.

Project Management of all Telecommunications works including the overseeing of all telecommunications, including services and new PABX and all the programming of the PABX ($350K), videoconferencing ($50K) and audio visual ($250K) requirements at the new corporate office prior to moving from North Sydney. The decision was taken to upgrade the pre-existing video conferencing equipment due to age and incompatibility with external systems. My role was to investigate the need for video conferencing at sites other than those already equipped, make the decision as to the best equipment for the job, negotiate the best possible price ($300K) prepare the capital expenditure and business case to support the request. I then managed the installation of both systems and required services, necessary training and finally the set up of software to deliver reporting on the use of the systems
