I obtained my MSed Curriculum & Instruction: TESOL from the University of the Southwest, Hobbs, New Mexico and my BA in Social Studies and a State of Michigan Secondary Education Teaching Certificate from Madonna University, Livonia, Michigan. I have taught Academic Writing, Reading, Grammar, Oral Communications, and Western Culture and Etiquette. Altogether, I have nine years’ experience teaching ESL plus another seven years’ experience teaching other various subjects.As a former English Language Fellow, I taught a variety of English classes to undergraduate and graduate students at Northeast Normal University, Changchun, China and Hunan First Normal University, Changsha, China. Also, I conducted Professional Development workshops in the latest teaching methods and strategies for English teachers throughout China and East Asia. Moreover, as part of my Fellowship, I mentored teachers, spoke at conferences in China and East Asia, judged speech and teaching competitions, and provided a three day English workshop for middle school and high school students in Beijing. Overall, I am excited to have worked as a Fellow in China helping both students and teachers to become more fluent in English.I feel that it is essential for students to apply educational experiences outside the classroom in order to meet the challenges of our changing world. My extensive international travels have provided me with the knowledge and authenticity to meet and enhance curriculum standards and benchmarks for all students. Additionally, I feel that positive student interaction is imperative for creating a community of successful learners. Through interactive modeling and instruction I demonstrate high standards and expectations for all students. Students should feel comfortable sharing their ideas, while being respected and valued. I believe that creating a respectful community of learners and sharing life experiences will promote student success.
