We bootstrapped the business by leveraging the most modern SaaS infrastructure products, a deep knowledge of AWS, talented off-shore development teams, and many other tools that helped us do more with less and compete with companies much larger than ourselves. We hired great people along the way and built a team and culture that personified a scrappy, gritty start-up even well after we had achieved profitability and scaled to thousands of customers nationwide.Once we had initial traction and product-market fit, we decided to continue to self-fund the company by reinvesting in ourselves. Our B2B SaaS telematics product and mobile apps consistently earned us the top-rated spot on both Trustpilot and Capterra and our reputation for customer service set us apart from the competition. Our customer value proposition was proven every month as we saw above-average industry gross retention, net revenue retention, and low churn metrics despite not locking customers into long-term contracts.While bootstrapping a multi-million dollar business had its challenges, we enjoyed the autonomy and control as we operated and grew ClearPathGPS for over 10 years and ultimately benefited from our control of the cap table when the opportunity to sell the company to GPSInsight / Accel-KKR arose. Chris and Steve stayed on to help manage the company's integration and have recently transitioned into consultant/advisor roles as the rest of the company joined the team at GPS Insight and continues to scale the combined business.
