DISruptive POLymer TEChnologies has developed proprietary technology for producing vinyl polymers with compositional and architectural control, regulators used therein and polymers so obtainable. Key advantages include:• Regulators claimed do not significantly raise the cost of polymer to be produced; they are made at a fraction of the cost of regulator systems currently available• They overcome the principle limitation of Nitroxide-Mediated Polymerization (NMP), i.e. they effectively suppress termination and successfully control homopolymerization of methacrylics• Suppressing termination facilitates running processes semi-continuously at high instantaneous conversion, as is mandatory in the multi-purpose batch plant setting of specialty vinyl polymer manufacturers • In contrast to state-of-art Controlled Radical Polymerization (CRP), a facile transition into aqueous phase dispersed systems is achieved, as has been demonstrated in suspension and mini-emulsion• Polymers are ready-to-use / ready-to-formulate: no post-polymerization modification is needed(For pertinent reading see patents and publications listed under Accomplishments)Dispoltec is working with and searching for partners to implement the technology industrially; for manufacturing regulators partnerships are to be established with leading global suppliers of polymerization initiators.Note 1: the technology has been developed and is currently being explored in coll. with Polymat (Profs. Asua and Leiza) at Universidad del País Vasco (UPV) in Donostia-San Sebastián (E): academic and institutional parties interested in collaboration are to contact Polymat directly.Note 2: development of regulators is continued in coll. with CHILL at the Brightlands Chemelot Campus in Geleen (NL).
