About Steven Van Strien
Working professionally for over 10 years within software, I consider myself to be a bit of a chameleon. I gained varied experiences throughout many different departments within software companies (mainly SaaS focused) and I'm adaptable to changing situations, people and environments. In my career I have had the responsibility of building roadmaps, creating and grooming epics, users stories, technical tasks, building KPIs, working with customers and customer support teams, mentoring teams with a wide range of skills from project managers to scrum masters, agile coaches to technical writers, software testers to and product owners/managers etc. I also worked as the admin of our company's Atlassian instances, building out everything from workflows, project structures, reports, and even performing migrations of multiple instances into one during company mergers.My motto is to find problems and solve them, no matter how big or small they are. I consider myself to be customer centric and driven to ensure my day to day work also reflects this belief.With a bachelor's degree in software engineering, extensive experience as a software tester as well as experience as a technical product manager and product manger lead, I feel I have gained a respect and understanding of many of the key roles within a product and development departments, given me a crucial ability to understand and communicate the problems within an organization but also on how to solve them.Agility is a big passion of mine, while working my other roles I also worked as a scrum master and product owner, helping scrum teams to become more efficient by aiding in the creation of clear and well defined requirements and acceptance criteria. While I worked as agile coach and transformation lead I was responsible for helping previous organizations adapt agile practice, helping them define items like their DoD and DoR, their ways or working, etc. My current role as head of the Business Process Excellence and PMO department has me working with many different departments on many different projects, all with different demands. Working daily to find and solve problems they face by figuring out the key processes practices we need is a key skill in my day to day job, but also just as important is understanding how to fail fast and remove any processes that are inefficient or have become a burden to the organization.
