With over 80 percent of our family physician members now using electronic health records (EHRs) in their practices, it’s time for the AAFP to increase its focus on helping family physicians to optimize their EHR investments so that they can achieve the triple aim of improving population health, enhancing the patient experience and reducing health care costs. For these reason, the new focus will be on the sociotechnical systems needs to support family physicians and their teams to achieve the triple aim. Including this new focus is the change of the new of the Center for Health IT to the Alliance for eHealth Innovation.

Logica — formerly Health Services Platform Consortium — was founded on May 21, 2013 by Intermountain Healthcare, Louisiana State University and the Veteran’s Administration to refocus how healthcare applications are developed. 270+ contributors have joined our cause, including leading healthcare and government organizations, healthcare tech vendors and a venture-led group of investors supporting HSPC-centric portfolio companies.As a provider-led consortium, Logica applies the same teamwork approach to delivering quality patient care to solving the interoperability challenge. Our Consortium includes hundreds of active organizations focused on developing a healthcare services platform community that will enable an economy for interoperable applications in a SOA and knowledge-enabled model. Through Logica’s interoperable marketplace and services platform, we seek to foster a new level of provider-vendor collaboration and innovation to meet one of the industries’ greatest needs: accelerating the creation, sharing and delivery of promising software applications at the point of care.

MACPAC was established in the Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009 (P.L. 111-3) and was later expanded and funded through the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (P.L. 111-148). MACPAC is tasked with reviewing state and federal Medicaid and CHIP access and payment policies and making recommendations to Congress, the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the states on a wide range of issues affecting Medicaid and CHIP populations, including health care reform.

To advance the field of integration, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) created the Academy for Integrating Behavioral Health and Primary Care. The Academy is to serve as a national resource and coordinating center for those interested in behavioral health and primary care integration. AHRQ’s vision for the Academy is to support the collection, analysis, synthesis, and dissemination of actionable information that is useful to providers, policymakers, investigators, and consumers.

The Ambulatory EHR Workgroup is responsible for defining the criteria for certification of EHR products in the ambulatory or outpatient market. This workgroup is part of the Certification Commissionfor Health Information Technology (www.cchit.org).
