With permission from the Harvey Philips Foundation, I have coordinated a TubaChristmas concert in Franklin County, MA, since 1996, and a concert in Brattleboro, VT, since 2008. I also conduct the ensemble in Brattleboro.

We probably can't eradicate hunger in the next few years, but we can try! Funds raised from CROP Hunger Walks go to building better food sources and education for people around the world. 25% of the funds we raise goes to a place very dear to my heart - Franklin County, Massachusetts.

I have the opportunity to cover all things agricultural - maple sugaring, honey bees, dairy, 4H, animal powered field work, international crops, FFA, granges, lumber, livestock, etc. When a photo of mine hit the front page, my friend, Craig, exclaimed, "Now you can put 'Photojounalist' on your CV!"

I find experts in the field of Instrumental Music Education to write articles that other band and orchestra directors find current and useful. Although these experts are fine music educators, their writing skills often are lacking. That's where my editting (Yes, I know what I did!) skills are put to the test. After I complete the initial edit, the articles are sent to the journal's editor.For 7 years (2001-2007), I wrote "Viewpoint," a column for which I interviewed retired music educators. It was a tough assignment - especially the interview of Alan Hawryluk, on his yacht in Marblehead Harbor. "Viewpoint: The Next Generation" was premiered in the Winter of 2022.I was on the hiring committee in spring of 2010, when we hired the editor.

I represent the farmers of Franklin County, and there are a lot of them!My farming experience is that of maple and dairy, but with this position, my knowledge has blossomed with know-how in goats, horses, organic farming, lavender, bees, cranberries ...Without the know-how of these farmers, we'd all be extremely skinny.

I took over the conducting responsiblities in 2000. I, while studying for my Master of Music degree at University of Connecticut (1994-97), used the Shelburne Falls Military Band as a lab ensemble for what I was learning in my conducting class, as I was the Band's Assistant Conductor.I performed with the Shelburne Falls Military Band since 1985, primarily on Baritone Saxophone. I have performed, however, on whichever instrument is needed most.
