A 30 year retail enthusiast, Steve Horvath graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1993 acquiring his B.S. in Business Management with focuses in Human Resources and Communications. He joined Herberger’s Department Stores directly after, participating in a Management Training Program. Steve worked a year in Nebraska and was asked to open a new store in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. A year later, Ann Taylor recruited Steve as a Store Manager for the Ann Taylor Factory division which later became Ann Taylor Loft. He ran one of the first Loft concepts and later became one of the first District Managers for the division, covering 5 states in the mid-west.After a 7 year career with Ann Taylor, Steve had an opportunity to be the Director of Sales and Marketing for a commercial interior design company specializing in Herman Miller product. He was able to exercise his entrepreneurial skills and brand building abilities.Missing retail, he began his career with American Eagle Outfitters in Chicago. He has successfully run 2 districts producing a year over year comp increases leveraging over 34 different stores in Indiana, Illinois, California and Hawaii. Steve has been awarded the prestigious Diamond Council award 4 times, which recognizes the top 10% of District Managers for production and contribution to the company. He is also involved in the Emerging Leaders program as the Co-Chair of the Values Team. Steve was hand picked by the Zone VP to be part of a DM impact team focused on improving DM training and development. He has also worked hard to get others involved in their communities through the philanthropic efforts on American Eagle Outfitters serving as the AE Foundation Community Captain for the region. In the past 2 years, Steve has been utilized in the Regional Manager role in times of transition.Worked at Apple for 11 years as a store leader having the time of his life.Continuing to learn and grow, Steve moved industries to Extra Space Inc.
