Sculptor Steven Whyte is a highly accomplished sculptor known for his stunning bronze figures. Born in England, he studied at the Lilley & Stone School, Newark, and the Lincoln School of Art before enrolling at the Sir Henry Doulton School of Sculpture. After completing his education, Whyte embarked on a successful career as a sculptor. He has completed more than sixty public bronze sculptures in the USA, Europe, and Asia, including 67 life size and larger figures. Of these 67 figures, 30 are non-Caucasian subjects and 25 are female subjects. In 1992, he became an Associate Professor of Figurative Sculpture at Stafford College in Staffordshire, England. He helped develop the first validated degree figurative sculpture course in the UK, which received more first-choice applications than any other high-level sculpture course in the country. Today, Whyte is the Director and Sculptor of Sculptural Solutions Inc. DBA Steven Whyte Sculpture Studios in Carmel, California. In this role, he oversees the creation of cast-bronze figurative sculptures for private and national commissions and limited-edition bronzes for collectors and galleries. He has also been recognized with numerous awards and honors for his work, including the National Sculpture Society’s Stanley Bleifeld Memorial Award and the California Senate Recognition for his dedication to the arts. In 2022, he was elected as a member of the National Sculpture Society in New York and was given special recognition by the U.S. Congress for his outstanding service to the community. He was also recognized by the California Senate for his dedication to the arts and was named the Champion of the Arts by the Arts Council of Monterey County. In 2021, he won the National Sculpture Society’s Stanley Bleifeld Memorial Award for an outstanding body of work, and in 2019, his work was acquired by the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library in Georgia. He has also been honored by the Congressional Record in 2011 and 2017, and his work has been acquired by the National Museum of the Marine Corps, The National Museum of China, Nanjing, and both the Smithsonian for the National Portrait Gallery and the Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Cultures permanent collection. In 2016, he was named the Sport Artist of the Year by the United States Sports Academy.
