Career/Work Summary:I have worked in the healthcare industry since March 2000. Currently situated in our hospital’s Radiation Oncology (cancer treatment) clinic, I provide IT support as a Clinical Application Analyst. Before being invited into this role, I also worked in other computer support-related positions within the hospital including Radiology, Billing & Collections/Finance, and Information Technology.Specialties: * Software support/training including EHR/EMR and Microsoft Office products (including database design and VBA scripting)* Report Writing (Crystal Reports / Microsoft Access)* Process/workflow analysis* Hardware/Software/OS troubleshootingLife Outside of Work:My wife and I are raising our three children in our home just outside the city limits. Deeply rooted in our faith, we are very involved in our local church. We home school our children, and participate in a homeschooling co-op that meets on a weekly basis. My family has been involved in a short-term mission ministry, traveling to Haiti since 2004. We have led medical, evangelical/teaching and construction teams, all focused on building relationships with churches in the region – helping them to "make better disciplers" through teaching, church building, and personal/spiritual growth. We work with an established mission that encourages the building up of standards in their community through spiritual growth, financial stewardship, and education – led by grass-roots community involvement, not dependent on foreign missionaries or hand-outs. I enjoy many sports, but specifically enjoy playing basketball and running. I also love getting into the beautiful Maine wilderness for a relaxing camping trip or a rigorous hike, and I recently discovered the joy of bike-riding through the carriage trails at Acadia. I have also been building up a collection of tools over the years, teaching myself the concepts of woodworking as a hobby.

It System Administrator / Training Program LeadS. J. Rollins Technologies, Inc. Feb 2022 - PresentBrewer, Maine, United States -
Clinical Application Analyst, Radiation OncologyEastern Maine Medical Center Dec 2011 - Aug 2024Brewer, MaineI provide primary IT support for Eastern Maine Medical Center's Cancer Care department, located at the Lafayette Family Cancer Center in Brewer, Maine. My objective in this position is to oversee the transition from a paper medical record to an electronic medical record - including the implementation of an oncology-specific EMR, treatment planning system, and other supporting software solutions. I was recruited to join the clinic and work with management and administration to develop this department-specific IT role. The role has been very well received in the department, where I have been allowed to balance big-picture projects like EMR implementation with smaller day-to-day tasks like troubleshooting desktop computer issues and training staff on new processes. In a department where hours of down-time translate into thousands of dollars of lost revenue, having immediate response for resolving issues with computers and clinical equipment has greatly benefited the department and the hospital.* * * * * * * * * Specific functions in this role include: workflow analysis, process improvement, end user support and training, report writing, contract review and negotiation, performing software and hardware upgrades, troubleshooting desktop PC and peripheral issues (including A/V support, printers, copiers, computer accessories, and clinical radiation oncology equipment). On a daily basis I work with physicians, therapists, dosimetrists, physicists, hospital IT, management, and vendor sales/service/engineering representatives.Once established in my role within the clinic, I was named the leader of our EMR implementation work group, which pulls together management staff and representatives from the various areas of the clinic to address current issues and ways to better utilize our department resources. -
Christian Mission Trip Leader / OrganizerEbenezer Evangelical Missions / World Outreach Missions Oct 2005 - Feb 2015Maine / HaitiStarting as a participant in a short-term trip in October of 2005, I immediately acquired a love for the Haitian people, and the work that Ebenezer Evangelical Missions (EEM) was doing on the north coast of Haiti. Just months after returning from my first trip, I was already busy organizing our next team / trip. Ever since then, we (my wife, children and I) have continued to travel to Haiti, at least once a year. Teams we have organized have taken part in many different functions, from locally-funded humanitarian food distribution programs, to fresh water initiatives like water filtration and fresh water pump installation, to setting up and hosting medical & dental clinics. All of these projects are done with the understanding that they are opening the door for us to minister to the spiritual needs, as well as the physical needs, of the people in this region. We quickly determined that a bowl of rice given to one hungry person makes a difference for a few hours, but want to be part of something bigger - to make an impact that can last eternally, not just momentarily. That is why the most important and rewarding work we have done is in the training and equipping of Christians in the area to "make better disciplers." Motivated by the words of Paul from the Biblical epistle of 2nd Timothy: "And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." We desire to have a long-term impact on the people of the Nordouest region of Haiti by pouring our lives into individuals, helping them grow in their relationship with Christ, and strengthening the local churches through Biblical training. We believe that mature Christians, with the help of the Holy Spirit, will have a purifying effect on their homes, families, and communities.

Pc Technician - IntermediateEastern Maine Medical Center 2007 - 2011Is Desktop Support ServicesAs a technician in the Desktop Support Services group, my primary role was working as a tier II support representative in a ticketing-based IT customer support department, responding to tickets in multiple facilities. My responsibilities included repairing and replacing desktop PCs, PC components, printers, faxes, copiers, and some software and network troubleshooting. The scope of this role included support for three buildings in our hospital system: the administration facility, a Cancer Care clinic, and a small family practice office - essentially providing support for 600-700 employees. While in this role, I was given the additional opportunity to support the Northern New England Telemedicine Service (NNETS). This was a traveling role, which involved purchase and installation of grant-funded clinical video teleconferencing equipment in many hospitals throughout the rural regions of Maine. Other duties included asset tracking, troubleshooting, process documentation, and customer relations. I would like to share a very special opportunity I was afforded while in this role. When a patient from Aroostook County (northern Maine) was unexpectedly hospitalized in our Bangor facility days before her son's high-school graduation, I was asked to get involved. I helped coordinate setting up our hospital's telemedicine (video-conferencing) equipment along with equipment from an affiliated nursing home in the Aroostook region at the student's graduation ceremony. These efforts made it possible for our patient to see her son's graduation from her hospital bed. This effort included working with hospital administration, nursing home staff, and the local high school to ensure all equipment was in place and functioning properly, testing network connections, and coordinating staff resources to ensure the project was a 100% success! -
Database TechnicianEastern Maine Medical Center 2004 - 2007Finance And Radiology DepartmentsThese roles included a vast spectrum of database support - from building MS Access databases and front-end solutions, to performing maintenance on larger PACS-based oracle databases. In both departments (the Budget/Cost Accounting section of the Finance department, and the PACS group within Radiology), I was a technical resource working with experts in their respective fields (accountants, administrators and radiology staff) to create and maintain solutions for entering, tracking, and reporting information using various database technologies.During my time in these departments, I also held department- and hospital-level positions on our company's United Way campaign committees. In 2005, I received the EMMC/United Way "Outstanding Department Campaign Volunteer Award." -
Information SpecialistEastern Maine Medical Center 2000 - 2004Patient Account Services (Hospital Billing And Collections)As an Information Specialist, I took the role of an administrative assistant for several managers and support staff within the Billing and Collections departments. The role started out as a clerical role, preparing data mailers, creating monthly financial reports, and other duties. After being in the role for about a year, the department underwent a major upgrade in their billing software. During and after the implementation of the new software, I was able to take on additional responsibilities, like learning the programming language for report generation and modification, creating and maintaining billing policies which drove the automated billing systems, and maintaining document and policy repositories for the billing system. The experience gained during my time in this department opened up opportunities for to move into future IT positions within the hospital.
