As the Head of Engineering at RedCircle, I advised the co-founders on all manners of running the engineering division. I was 100% responsible for decisions made by and for the engineering team, including recruiting/hiring, promotion decisions, mentoring/coaching, project management, and process development. Hired 25% of the existing engineering staff before my departure. Implemented several key processes and policies, including: the engineering career ladder and promotion process; a tight project feedback loop including retrospectives, which had not been implemented previously; the hiring interview loop, including supplemental software in use during portions of that process.Responsible for vetting, selecting, testing, and implementing all manner of vendor software in use by the engineering team, including budgetary requirements. This included software for managing issues/workflow, retrospective meetings, feature flags, meeting agendas/notes/feedback, etc.
