About Steve Pierce

I've been a web applications developer for 20 years, working for some of the top US and European organizations: at Ford, in their European Headquarters in Cologne, Germany; at Dartmouth College and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover/Lebanon, NH; and at the BBC in London, UK.Over the years, I have also been involved with several startups, including two of my own entrepreneurial projects (a web-based email company in 1996/7, and a video game music company - 2004 to the present). Through my entrepreneurial ventures, I have had the pleasure of working with the Dartmouth Entrepreneurial Network (Tuck School of Business) and BBC Innovation Labs (2008 participant, Lake District, UK).In terms of leadership and team dynamics, I have experience as a programmer/architect, as a software development manager, and as a ScrumMaster (in which I have current certification: CSM, CSP). I am a strong proponent of Agile (esp. Scrum/XP).Regarding my technical skills, I could be described as a generalist and a polyglot, but my specialities tend toward the Unix-based, Open Source: Ruby (Rails), Python, Java, Scala, Perl, SQL, Neo4j, GraphQL, JavaScript, React.
