CurrentLeading the staff (30+ career staff and 60+ student staff / interns) of the students’ union to deliver high-quality membership and commercial services to students across 6 sites. Key responsibilities include strategic development, risk management, supporting the work of the sabbatical officers, stakeholder management, and oversight of governance, Human Resources, finance, and compliance.Over my time as Chief Executive the following successes have been achieved:• Refurbished two venues and diversification of commercial income• Created micro-engagement systems that also generate income (Give It A Go programme)• Reached initial and re-forecasted reserves position• Steered the organisation through the pandemic with a re-structured team across all 6 sites (previously only over 3 sites)• Managed significant organisational risk successfully protecting the organisation and trustees• Introduced a new approach to officer induction and support with increased satisfaction of the officer journey• Created additional line management opportunities; with all career staff given the chance to line manage either another career staff member or several student staff as well as access to management qualifications• More than doubled the size of the career staff team and student staff team• Reviewed and updated the union’s governing document• Re-branded with enhanced brand recognition by students and stakeholders
