ByCycling is a Commuter Platform helping organizations shift commute behavior towards green, active, and micro-mobility modes. We do this by making it easy to design and implement commuter programs and by offering direct incentives to the staff when 'green' commuting. We are on a mission to simplify the way companies deploy and manage large commuter programs, with an impact-driven approach.Our customer Palo Alto Transportation Management Association (PATMA) is developing a first-in-the-world “Bike Love” program, featuring six unique aspects:● Daily incentives for geo-verified active mode first-mile and home-to-work commute trips, up to $600 per year per commuter. ● Geofenced location tracking confirms bike, e-bike, e-scooter, and e-skateboard trips. Areas surrounding 30 Caltrain commuter rail stations are geofenced to confirm first-mile trips. ● Within 60 seconds, incentive dollars may be redeemed at local merchants via reloadable Apple/Google Pay Virtual Visa credit cards. ● By restricting transaction authorization to local merchants, program funds are recycled back into the local economy, multiplying program impact. ● A novel incentive structure featuring higher daily incentives in the first few weeks and during foul weather.● Persuasive marketing utilizing door-to-door, in-person outreach to 800 businesses encompassing technology, light office, government, and service workers. Bike Love scales to other cities and major employer commute programs, increasing transit ridership at no cost to transit operators. Bike Love addresses public transit’s decades-old FIRST MILE Problem. The project is partially funded by a federal Transportation Research Board grant.

As Regional Manager - TDM, I work on TDM Programs with ALTRANS’ current and future client base in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. I engage in business development and the fiscal and personnel management of effective trip reduction programs; provide transportation planning, GIS analysis and cost-efficacy analysis; organize and manage outreach programs; design and lead innovative alternative transportation projects; and am responsible for process evaluation reporting on all activities specific to reducing SOV trips.

Solution includes: employer commute reduction software, mobility aggregation multimodal trip-planning app, workplace parking charges/rebates, and commute analytics. Resulted in Plan Bay Area’s 40% SOV Cap and MTC’s SHIFT program. FVC won Fast Company’s World Changing Transport Idea. ● Authored and won $1.1M grant from the Federal Transit Administration Mobility on Demand Program, one of 11 awardees among 78 proposals. Recruited 40 project partners across cities, counties, employers, vendors, agencies, and state and local government legislators. Convened mobility ecosystem workshops with 80 attendees. ● To evaluate eight congestion pricing policies, developed Delphic ranking methodology encompassing {political viability, social equity, GHG reduction, congestion reduction, cost-effectiveness, and ease-of-implementation} - in collaboration with MTC, Bay Area Council, FWHA, and WSDOT.● Developed "PepC" regional planning methodology to improve leadership, accountability, technological progress, planning freedom, and business models. Working with six partners, implemented PepC to “Win the 2030 Mobility Future” to halve Bay Area VMT/GHG; maximize equity and biking; move more people with fewer vehicles; and optimize shared, autonomous, electric vehicles. ● Researched and developed “national accounts” multimodal fare payment architecture and business model. ● Researched and created award-winning freeway-of-the-future concept. ● Authored four state bills: FVC SOV fee/rebate (feebate), fuel efficiency feebate, ride-hailing occupancy feebate, and pay-as-you-drive auto insurance feebate.● Authored five peer-reviewed papers.

● For Nissan, led Robotaxi user experience pilot yielding 2.2 average occupancy.● Developed business models for passenger travel via autonomous vehicles, including public policy and regulatory approvals (for Nissan). ● For Intel, created a business case for smart city parking infrastructure and its related public policy impacts.● Developed an on-demand ridesharing proposal (winner, FHWA Value Pricing Program grant).● Produced Bay Area suburban job center GIS commute shed catalog.

● Developed commercialization models for five autonomous services (last mile robotaxi, robovan public transit, etc.), incorporating financial considerations, transportation planning, city government regulatory requirements, geographic information systems (GIS), simulation, and user needs.● Led data mining to create dataset of 10 million residents taking 32 million trips per day, with household demographics including income and car ownership. Analysis was used to identify the best geo-fenced regions to target for a minimum viable service.
