Drives delivery of 2500 trained people per year on 55 different courses in a high-pressured environment at the UK defence bomb disposal school. Long term strategic operations planning, risk forecasting and developing mitigation to smooth activity.

Strategic planning and internal audit of UK military aviation regulator operations. Analysis of multiple data sources to identify risks, and advising appropriate risk controls. Conducted analysis to identify risk severity and recommended timing for regulator intervention. Resulted in regular updating and shaping the organisation’s audit activities, to continue to help protect lives. Carried out extensive research upon UK aviation organisations to identify new risk vulnerabilities that had escaped regulator interest. Resulted in re-prioritised activity to focus on new interest areas, bringing an additional 10% of organisations under the regulator eye.  Collected and analysed vast arrays of data from aircraft records and consolidated into simple terms the regulator’s responsibilities, results of current activity and future estimates. Resulted in production of a live, one page overview slide to clearly show the organisation’s remit. This saved time across the business and aided senior management decision making.

Varied range of project management, financial responsibilities, and team leader roles in 8 differing appointments.  Led a team of engineers to fix operational aircraft, in high pressure, sometimes dangerous, environments. Assessed, mitigated or accepted risk to authorise aircraft safe to fly by directing, managing and prioritising resources and maintenance activities. Whilst in Afghanistan displayed calm decisiveness to lead a team of 12 to generate an aircraft to save the lives of 10 seriously injured soldiers.  Project manager and budget owner of £13m obsolescence programme for Hercules aircraft simulators. Worked alongside industry partners, coordinated programme delivery, monitored budget spend, secured and contracted suppliers to upgrade aircraft simulators.  Liaised with multiple royal, ministerial and senior military offices to coordinate and deliver visit programmes at Kandahar airbase, Afghanistan. Organised the Prime Minister and Chief of Defence Staff’s 2009 Christmas visit to the troops with associated press and UK police protection officers. This resulted in a revised situational awareness of the conflict at the highest level to inform political decisions and government spending.  Procured, project managed and delivered a replacement fleet of carbon dioxide cylinder charging equipment across defence. Project approval achieved by data gathering, analysis and stakeholder liaison with internal commercial staff and industry contractor to identify options and costs. Delivered investment appraisal analysis and a business case to secure a £5m contract, before managing integration into service.
