Tech lead for Scalyr, and the project to rebase SentinelOne's petabyte-scale security data platform on Scalyr.

Inspired by needs I observed while working at Google, Scalyr was a log management and application observability solution which broke new ground in scalability, performance, and cost efficiency. Eventually acquired by SentinelOne to provide the data platform for their petabyte-scale security offering.

One of roughly 100 Senior Staff Engineers across Google. Key projects included:* Tech Lead for Writely/Google Docs (2006-2007)* Tech Lead for Megastore Replication (2007-2008) - a project to synchronously replicate transactional data across data centers. This was the first large-scale general-purpose solution at Google for reliable, transactional data storage. This project was widely deployed across 100s of projects within Google.* Tech Lead for Cosmo (2008 - 2010) - a unified storage layer for Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Photos, Chrome Bookmarks, and eventually other projects. Led team of ~15 engineers.

Writely - aka "The Web Word Processor"​ - was launched in August 2005. It began as an experiment, trying out the then-new Ajax technology and the "content editable"​ function in browsers. Writely's original features included a collaborative text editing suite and access controls. Writely was acquired by Google in 2006 and became what is now known as Google Docs.

Helped them conceptualize, design and build a brand new product, Quickbooks Customer Manager (lightweight CRM).

Senior Engineer on Sitespring & Dreamweaver

Three of us built a web application server called SSML (“Server-Side Markup Language”) which we sold to Macromedia.

Notable projects:* Co-wrote Spectre - one of the first realtime multiplayer 3D games for the Mac (and the first with solid 3D polygonal graphics.)* Co-wrote Claris Home Page - one of the first WYSIWYG HTML editors, and the first one that was cross-platform (Mac + Windows). Developed and shipped, on two platforms, by a 2-person team in 7 months. Built independently and sold to Claris before the initial release.

Lead engineer on FullPaint (first successful competitor to MacPaint) and FullWrite Professional.
