Led Shell’s engagement in international climate discussions with key international organisations (UNFCCC etc) and shape/support engagement with key country governments, NGOs and investors on climate and wider SDGs. Provided external insights into company strategy development and support positioning of Shell’s NZE ambition and work on decarbonisation on key industry sectors including through external representation (eg World Bank carbon pricing advisory group) and public speaking (eg Innovate4Climate). Developed policy positions on key climate issues, ensuring consistency of climate advocacy globally. Delivered first policy on methane emissions leading to Shell’s first public methane emissions target. Led a team of US and EU based analysts.

Advocacy lead on climate change and in support of projects in Africa through engagement with all layers (up to Head of State) of UK and visiting African governments. Seconded to Brussels office, built coalition of companies, governments and NGOs that drove reform of EU carbon pricing. 18 months as advisor to Shell Tunisia Chair on new gas projects, with in-country advocacy (in French) navigating complex post-revolution political landscape.

Identified and built instrumental relationships with key individuals in support of UK's interests across the MENA region. Developed detailed insights into political, energy and defence issues to inform government policy during the Arab Spring.

Developed key elements of DfID's climate change implementation plan that incorporated climate change into its policy, project and communication work. Extensive engagement across DfID and with academics/NGOs. Produced external communication material that was highly praised by Secretary of State.
