About Steve S. Sin, Ph.D.

I am an Associate Research Scientist and the Director of the Unconventional & Asymmetric Threats Division (UAT) of the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START), headquartered at the University of Maryland. I develop, lead, and manage interdisciplinary research projects spanning across a broad range of national and homeland security challenges. My expertise include countering weapons of mass destruction; operations in the information environment; insider threat and risk management; and Northeast Asia regional security. Prior to joining START, I served as a senior research associate and section chief with the National Center for Security & Preparedness (NCSP), a strategic partner of the New York State Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services (NYS DHSES). My professional experiences also include a full career as a U.S. Army Officer.
