To accomplish my duties included coordinating construction activities with the owner, subcontractors and company personnel. Initiate, establish and maintain working relationships with owner, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to facilitate construction activities. Communicate with appropriate stakeholders involved in projects to ensure mutual understanding of requirements, resources, progress and barriers. Execute field construction activities in conformance with project drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, procedures, quality requirements and safety standards. Monitoring contractor resource assignments to ensure that the correct numbers of resources are assigned to the work. Anticipate and resolve problems encountered in the field to eliminate costly rework or re-testing. Consulting with design leaders to ensure the smooth flow of vital information necessary for the scheduled completion of the project.

Communicate with appropriate stakeholders involved in the project to ensure mutual understanding of requirements, resources, progress and barriers. Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, scheduling and performance.

Dow Chemical Co. - Texas Operations

Project Falcon Chlorine 7Primary responsibility as I&E Commissioning & Start-Up Lead is working with Dow Chemical’s Director of Operations to commission and start-up an $800MM dollar Chlorine production plant. To accomplish this my duties included Verify the control system point-to-point, including establishing acceptance criteria, obtaining completed reports, performing verification and spot checking for validation. Communicate noted commissioning issues, questions and concerns through proper channels in a timely manner. Develop project specific commissioning schedule and plans. Conduct commissioning coordination meetings as needed with project management, control, balance, and startup representatives. Provide input to set priorities for sub-system turnover that takes into account the facility's design and would allow for safe commissioning of sub-systems/systems while the construction contractor completes and turns over the remaining systems. Attend mechanical completion and system handover joint walk downs as required. Provide daily feedback as to commissioning status and generate weekly activity report, manage closeout of punch list items, review and progress material deficiencies that affect safe and efficient commissioning activities. Interface effectively with project personnel (project leadership and engineering staff), operations team, contract field construction personnel, and vendor support staff.

Primary responsibility as I&C Project Lead is working with Luminant Engineering group to develop construction packages for small capital ($1-$5MM) and O&M project work. Working with construction manager to develop a +/-10% estimate and a construction schedule. Created a construction work package which included BOM, sketches, instrument loop diagrams, instrument data sheets, installation details, red lined ISO’s and P&ID and a detailed work scope. Developed loops folders to use during process of construction, configuration, loop verification, commissioning and turn-over. Provided supervision/direction of I&C personnel during check-out and commissioning. Worked with Asset Management to provide weekly updates on spending, also updates monthly cost projections. Specified and purchased all required engineered items for each project, worked with receiving to make sure each item was stored and marked accordingly per project.

Trained BP and contractor I/E Technicians on the new BP Quality Assurance policy. Performed planned audits and surveillances of execution activities to ensure compliance to BP requirements. Performing audits and surveillances of subcontractors and suppliers when required. Identifying and documenting quality problems and opportunities for improvement and recommending solutions.

Primary responsibility as Instrument/Electrical QA is working with BP QA Manager to help start the development of the I/E QA program for the BP Refinery. The job required me to develop the instrument documents that would be used to document job note completion and modified existing electrical documentation to meet BP’s requirements. Performed field inspections to verify work completed by contractors met the requirements of the job note and complied with BP’s quality requirements and industry standards.

Primary responsible as Instrument Field Engineer was working with the BP I/E Maintenance Engineer to complete turnaround and small capital project work. Developed an instrument index, created and populated a spreadsheet that was used to update the Loveland database for the critical and SIS alarms, and worked with contractors in completing the post work by assisting them with understanding job note requirements. Worked with field personal to prepare requisitions for field procured materials, material substitutions, services and equipment. Coordinated subcontract activities to ensure materials, equipment and quality comply with design and specifications.

Worked with Operations and Reliability Engineers to resolve repetitive instrument deviations and failures, updated unit drawings (SEOLD, P&ID), worked with site I&E Work Force Coordinator to develop an Instrument Skills Assessment to identify training needs for I/E technicians, worked with Turnaround Coordinator to plan the I/E part of our turnaround, worked as I/E night shift lead during several turnarounds, performed daily PPM, and procured material needed for daily maintenance, turnarounds and small capital projects. Supervised subcontractors during routine maintenance, turnarounds and capital projects.
