As a fervent supporter of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy - Super-Insulation and Solar in particular- Steve is proud to be a Life Member of ASES... and to have presented papers at "Solar 2011" in Raleigh and at the 2012 combined ASES "Solar 2012" and the "World Renewable Energy Forum" (WREF) in Denver. Both papers dealt with the evolving conversion of Steve's 1970s home to be a NET POWER PLANT which powers itself while also powering the 2 plug in cars and the tropical food producing greenhouse... while still exporting large volumes (over 8000 KWH) of annual surplus solar energy to the grid.He says: "I fervently believe that the EXISTING Housing Stock needs to be retrofitted in the extreme. to be "net zero energy" or better (carbon negative) if we are to avoid a climate catastrophe.... with the drought, famine, and flooding which that implies. My role is to DEMONSTRATE POSSIBILITY, and potential ... and to enthuse others to join in accepting and embracing personal responsibility for strong personal action in lifestyle conversion in three areas: 1) Dwelling Energy Production/Usage, 2) Transportation Energy Usage, 3) Food Production. All of these integrated into the residential environment... with the homestead optimized as a energy/food production platform, and also powering personal transportation."

Distinguished Member Of Technical Staff , Supervisor,

At&T Bell Telephone Laboratories

Continuing at AT&T Bell Telephone Laboratories, I moved in 1988 from the Switching Systems Division to the new Wireless (Cellular Phone) division responsible for taking our USA based system and specifying the necessary design changes for potential international application.I also was responsible for Executive Technical Presentations in support of the Sales Team and for Tender Responses. In this role I succeeded in opening the international cellular phone infrastructure market for AT&T first with a sale in Korea. For the next 9 years I interfaced the Korea Mobile Telecom Corporation executives on 2 week trips to Seoul each month to guide the Network Evolution and specify the design modifications for development which were needed to meet the customer feature and growth needs. This marketyielded $ 2,000,000,000 in sales for AT&T Bell Labs. After the initial success in getting our AT&T wireless product into Korea (our first international market), I laced trips to other potential wireless markets into the 2 weeks I was not in Korea. On these trips I made initial contacts with Cellular Phone Service Providers in The Philippines, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Brazil, Panama, China, Japan, Ghana, Mexico, and others. Several of these led to major sales of network infrastructure.
