Served as a senior leader on the project team that developed a new gold/copper mine in British Columbia, Canada. This mine was built over a 30-month period at a capital cost of approximately C$1.5B. Production commences in late 2013, the 66,000 tons-per-day mine will produce an average of 81M lbs. of copper and 194k oz. of gold annually over the 22-year mine life. Communicated with senior management on progress, issues, risks, costs and schedule impacts, and serve as the interface between the Mt. Milligan project team and corporate departments including finance, treasury, investor relations, human resources, IT, legal, supply chain/procurement, and accounting.Prepared and delivered presentations that communicate project status to senior management, board of directors, and key stakeholders. Managed the owners’ project/cost controls team and provide direction to the EPCM project controls team to reduce/minimize cost, provide accurate cost estimates, manage change and predict timing of cash flow requirements.Helped develop a project controls process to manage costs using Work Breakdown Structure [WBS], delegation of authority, key performance indicators [KPI], critical path review, and reports and dashboards. Built and maintain detailed life of mine models and other Excel analytical tools.
