About Steve Swindells

Steve had two major solo record deals (RCA and ATCO/WEA) in the 70s. He was also a pop star (Pilot) & rock star (Hawklords). His classic album Fresh Blood reached #3 in the US airplay charts in 1980. He then went on to co-direct The Pure Organisation from 1983, promoting seminal London club nights such as Jungle, Babylon & Bad and organising parties for Madonna, Prince, The Face and Time Out Magazines and many more, as well as his own own legendary club nights The Lift, and the jam nights Downbeat and Groove.In the 90s Steve moved into journalism, writing the internet column for Time Out magazine under the pseudonym Spyder from '95 - '99 and a lifestyle/gadget column for Attitude magazine. He was also the editor of Attittude's website. His double download album DanMingo, featuring members of Hawkwind, Culture Club and Massive Attack, was re-released in 2021 and is available on all digital platforms. He has four albums available to download on http://steveswindells.bandcamp.comHe has written songs with Shanks (of Shanks & Bigfoot), Loretta Heywood of Bomb The Bass, Zeus B Held, Jerry Richards (Hawklords), Jon Moss (Culture Club), Winston Blissett (Massive Attack) Spirits Burning, Brit rapper Lady Sovereign and soul singer Joseph Junior, amongst others. His songs have been covered by Hawkwind, Roger Daltrey and Lulu.His classic 1980 Atco/WEA album Fresh Blood album was reissued on CD on Atomhenge/Cherry Red and is now available for download on Spotify, Apple Music etc. His 1974 debut album Messages was also reissued in 2009 on Esoteric/Cherry Red Bam Boo, his ambient audio/visual project was featured in the London Anti Design Festival 2010.
