Gardner, Carton & Douglas merged with Drinker Biddle and Reath on Jan 1st, 2007. The responsibilities of the position within the new firm were identical to the old firm with some exceptions. As part of the new role application responsibilities for all legacy applications were added. As well as assisting with all merger efforts from an infrastructure, application, and usability standpoint. Some examples are the AD merge of the two separate forests using the Quest Tools, Exchange server deployment for the newly merged offices, Cisco Call manager deployment to the firm, an entire Cisco infrastructure refresh, and ongoing application integrations of the two firms’ primary systems for accounting, document management, and many others.

As manager my responsibilities include day to day operations of a complex legal environment for over 700 users and 5 remote sites. Lead multiple technicians on a daily basis to achieve 99.9% uptime and availability of all systems. Implemented and upgraded many of the common legal environment applications. Upgrades to other systems include Cisco Unity upgrades, Call Manager Upgrades, Firewall Upgrades, Firmware upgrades, server patching and OS Upgrades. Facilitate and coordinate purchase of all new hardware and software, including vendor selection, support contracts, and external support. Serve as the enterprise architect and implementation engineer for all new systems being implemented such as the newly acquired IBM Blade Servers for the Exchange 2003 Migration project and another Blade Center for the VMWare ESX Servers and Virtual Center.

Provide consulting services regarding various network and infrastructure related initiatives. This would include Active Directory design and implementation for various companies and institutions including Brunswick, Art Institute of Chicago, and Various Chicago Public Schools. Also responsible for various server installations and troubleshooting for existing clientele of common Microsoft based systems (i.e. SQL Server, MS Exchange, Terminal Servers…). Network infrastructure design and implementation of various components such as switches, routers, firewalls, servers, and desktops. Provided project management and coordinated the management of various sized team based initiatives

Provide senior level support for all aspects of the IT infrastructure. Also served as project manager for the Exchange 5.5 to 2000 migration and associated active directory components. Developed and implemented an enterprise level Help desk application that currently tracks inventory, purchasing, help requests, network infrastructure, and provide reporting functionality.

Provided an enterprise level operation strategy for the infrastructure and systems for offices located in New York, San Francisco, Atlanta, Denver, New Jersey, and Chicago. Primary functions consisted of researching and implementing various solutions to satisfy the technology needs of the business and Information Technology Department. These projects included: Peoplesoft implementation, Active Directory planning/strategy, storage area network implementation, server consolidation planning, web based network management, web based remote control solutions (i.e. Terminal Services and Citrix), network management, trend analysis/capacity planning, QA Testing (w/Compuware Toolset), VLAN implementation, wireless initiatives, VPN solutions (Checkpoint), NT high availability solutions, and NT clustering solutions. Other main focuses consisted of managing various project groups and assisting as an inside consultant in order to enforce a consistent set of standards, policies, and procedures.

Focused primarily on high-end server installation/maintenance, infrastructure design/implementation needs analysis, and project management. Clients included school districts, health insurance agencies, health care facilities, large banking firms, business consulting firms, and manufacturing facilities.

Designed and implemented various LAN and WANs for clients throughout the Chicagoland area. Primary responsibilities were to provide initial needs assessment and strategic planning, while providing and supporting Windows NT server farm.
