Reassigned to Director Quality and Technical Service following Ardagh’s acquisition of Saint-Gobain in 2014. Lead cross functional teams to provide quality assurance for three plants & foster partnerships with national & global customers for the world’s second largest producer of glass containers and cans for the wine, beer, food, beverage, and spirits industries. Eight direct reports including a Quality Managers and Field Service Engineers. Key Accomplishments & Responsibilities:• Use quality metrics/KPIs, root cause analysis, comprehensive investigation, and internal/external auditing to identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency optimization. Results over the last 3+yrs include: 10-15% reduction in cost of poor quality; 45% reduction in customer complaints; reduction in rework inventory by $2M. Emphasis on manufactured vs inspected quality.• Project leader for new product introductions and transition projects including: 42 new products for a new customer across four manufacturing plants, yielding incremental sales revenue and better than planned EBITDA; seamless transition of high volume container production from one plant to another, allowing uninterrupted continuation of sales revenue; and comprehensive transition from carton to a bulk-based packaging process for one of the organization’s largest customers. • Provide manufacturing and quality training for internal personnel and large external groups. Developed Field Service Engineers data gathering and analytical skills.• Coordinated quality related product liability cases that may involve litigation.

Led cross-functional teams to identify and resolve manufacturing problems and customer issues for 6 manufacturing plants. Fostered global and national customer partnerships, managed a field service team, engaged in customer sales, manufacturing and performance standards, troubleshooting, internal / external auditing of filling lines, warehouses, and supply chains. 15 direct reports. • Drove organizational transformation from reactive to proactive manufactured quality by hiring process and continuous improvement engineers to help solve customer problems instead of simply report and respond to them. Results included improved yield, standardization and communication, plus reduced customer complaints and rework charges.• Trained / developed Senior Process Engineers to achieve focused continuous improvement and operational efficiency improvements including improved container designs, machine maintenance, operator training, and automated inspection.• Developed / cultivated food safety (FSSC 22000) culture with renewed focus on strict regulatory compliance.• Increased top-line growth through new product introduction and bottom-line results through cost and risk reduction.

Led day-to-day operations and processes at a 600K sq. ft. manufacturing facility with 360 direct / indirect reports. • Initiated plant-wide, employee-led, safety programs, cutting lost-time accidents to 0/year, and reducing total incident rate from 7 to 2 by improving both work conditions and people’s behaviors.• Helped secure $12M in state tax incentives, supporting $50M capital investment for 2 furnace-rebuild projects.• Used KPIs to Pareto chart improvement actions. • Reduced yield loss 0.7% per year by identifying and fixing poorly performing products.• Collaborated with associates, complying with Title V environmental regulations, and minimizing energy costs.• Introduced 5S, Kaizens, and Visual factory methods, improving operations, communication, and employee engagement.• Redesigned procedures, automated forms, and used video technology, simplifying, and making shop floor administrative work more efficient.
