    I began as part of a two person IT team at Kalamazoo Christian. My major role was making sure the network was stable and that computers and software were in good working order. The team was responsible for four separate school buildings and over 400 computers. As the job evolved I ended up leading a transition from self-hosted service to Google Apps for Education and eventually was able to move the server infrastructure to a hosted model with Secant Technologies. Other duties involved staff training, some minor teaching roles, budgeting and purchasing and dealing with anything that had a network cable attached to it. In my final 18 months I was part of a team that started a 1:1 iPad program for 5th grade through 12th grade students. In my final six months I led the deployment and management of iPads for students in 5th-8th grade.

    I started in the technology business as a traveling Internet Configuration specialist. That really wasn't my title but it is what I did. I would travel from home to home and configure the home computer to connect to EagleNet's dial-up service. As my availability increased, and the demand for dial-up decreased, I began building PC's, servicing broken computers, and working on the help desk when needed.In my final years at Eagle I worked in the field when possible making customer visits to repair minor networking issues. Through this field work I was able to learn new IT skills, as well as how to listen to and work with our customers.
