With the growth of the student population and adoption of the IB Diploma Programme, the need for separate Elementary and Secondary Principals became clear. I remained in my role as Elementary School Principal and PYP Coordinator, and a Secondary Principal was hired beginning August 2017.

Served as school Principal for all grade levels from early childhood through high school as well as PYP Coordinator for the elementary section. Professional development included IBO Diploma Programme workshops, certification for child protection in education through EduCare, and The Principal's Training Center in Miami (Leadership and Team Dynamics; Instructional Supervision and Evaluation).

In addition, served as the primary years coordinator working with all grade levels from Romper (2 years old) through Grade 5. Taught the Primary Years Programme (PYP) utilizing the Daily Five, 6+1 Writing and Everyday Mathematics. Developed PYP units of inquiry and documented in Rubicon Atlas. Professional development included IBO An Introduction to the PYP Curriculum Model workshop, Successful Strategies in Literacy graduate course with focus on Daily 5, and Learning 2.014 Tech Conference in Ethiopia. Served as a student teacher mentor during the 2013-2014 school year.

Guatemala City, Guatemala

Taught weekly ninety-minute labs to twenty sections of second through fifth grade students, with a focus on inquiry-based, hands-on science instruction. Responsible for assessing performance, understanding, journaling and participation for more than 450 students. Communicated with parents through Edline, email and meetings. Served as science curriculum liaison for the elementary section, guiding the elementary science committee in curricular decision making. Responsibilities included development of curriculum maps on Rubicon Atlas, modification of units, analysis of student performance data, and aligning elementary science curriculum with that of early childhood and middle school. Sponsored an after school Science Club and helped coordinate an annual Night Hike event with a focus on Science.

Responsible for planning and providing instruction in the areas of Language Arts (with a balanced literacy approach), Mathematics, Social Studies and Science while working with instructional texts and materials from North America. Collaborated with colleagues on my team to design lessons, assessments and special activities such as Service Learning projects. Taught a North American curriculum using a student centered approach to the classroom. Responsible for instruction of language arts and math in my second grade class and instruction of science for both second grade sections. Organized an annual Science Fair for both second grade sections, including coordination with the technology teacher and other grade level teachers. Worked with grade level partner to plan and coordinate lessons and activities. Completed M.Ed. in Education. Sponsored the Ping Pong Club for elementary students.
