First and foremost the goal of any sales organization is to achieve sales targets. Other than the 'financial crises' year (2008) we did just that. At the same time no organization succeeds by sitting still so we embarked on a major strategic review that led to a major re-organization of the the national sales team and the way in which they interacted with the customer. Clearer expectations around engagement and consistency of approach so that the experience an advisor had in Halifax would be the one had in Vancouver. We also new from working with and listening to the sales team that the way in which we rolled out new product or initiatives was not setting them up for success so we developed a new methodology for rolling out products that marketed the product better, trained the sales team more deeply to be the expert and focused on the fulfillment aspect of any product -- to ensure that the process of selling was backed up by aligning the process of transacting the business. New product gets sold when people feel confident in what it can do for the customer, how it can address their needs and wants and how to complete the processing of the business. As a result of this focus we were able to successfully launch the biggest new product offering that had ever been launched to that point in the company's history! -
