Having worked with her father for many years, Chris’s daughter Stevey Arena, COO of Murphy Petrol Group, has taken the reins as Managing Director and is continuing the legacy of her father. Chris recognised the opportunity to promote the creative potential of Australia's Northern Rivers at a global level. This has been the driving force behind Petrol’s most recent projects with The Buckley’s, and the X Building. Sugar Beach Ranch sits on 60 acres of unspoilt beauty and Stevey is working with local suppliers and council to transform the ranch into a beautiful venue for hire. Petrol Records was launched in 2001 by CM (Chris) Murphy, who has been on the cutting edge of numerous music movements, including Punk, Dance, and Grunge. Prior to founding Petrol, Murphy discovered Australian group INXS, who he personally managed from 1980 - 1995. Petrol Records has enjoyed extraordinary success on legitimate digital services, and ranks as one of the world’s most successful independent labels at iTunes, amassing more than 180 #1’s, more than 700 Top 10 positions, and more than 1,600 Top 100’s.In 2009 Petrol Records signed INXS to re-establish them from a band to a brand.
