Since 1987, he has defended and counseled government officials and agencies, and private parties. His practice focuses primarily on the defense of damage suits involving police shootings, use of force, false arrest and vehicular pursuit, civil rights act violations, sexual assault, and employment discrimination. He also handles training, risk management, and government-specific matters such as Public Records, and coroner's inquests. He is a frequent lecturer at CLE seminars and police training events. He has also served on several WSBA committees.

Represented a variety of State agencies in civil damages actions and administrative proceedings, including the Washington State Patrol, its troopers and Narcotics Section, WSDOT, the Lottery Commission, DSHS, the Department of Retirement Systems, the Gambling Commission, the Insurance Commissioner, and state colleges and universities.
