I currently work at a long established Foundry and Machining Group based in central UK but supplying cast parts to the worldwide automotive industry.I work in the busy methods office as asdesign/methods engineer. My roles in this position include: -Evaluating and interrogating customer’s 3D models and 2D drawings.-Considering various production methods to manufacture the customer’s castings and identify the best possible method.-Identifying problems that may arise in producing the castings and suggest solutions/modifications to the part while remaining sympathetic to the customers needs and requirements.-Modifying customers 3D models using 3D modelling package, PTC Creo. -Design and draw prototype and production equipment in either 2D using AutoCAD or 3D modelling.-Liaise with sub-contract pattern makers to discuss the production of the pattern equipment.-Prepare 3D models and 2D drawing for customer visits.-Providing information about the castings to other departments within the company.-Operation and maintenance of Z Corporation Z510 rapid prototyping 3D printer.-Producing rapid prototype patterns using either supplied 3D models or creating a 3D model from customer drawings.

During this time I worked in the pattern shop at Castings Plc. My roles in this position include:-Repairing pattern equipment.-Carrying out machining operations using millers and lathes etc.-Carrying out modifications to pattern equipment.-Mould and produce prototype castings.
